The ASG Server utilizes Northwestern NetID authentication via Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) to permit webmasters to access their group's website. If you are not registered to connect to the server, please contact the ASG Technology Director.
Important:If you are attempting to connect from an off-campus location, you must be connected to the VPN. For information on how to set up and connect to the Northwestern VPN, please go here. On-campus users do not have to connect.
ASG recommends the following software for connecting to the ASG server to administer your group's website:
Fetch is made available through NUIT. After downloading and installing Absolute FTP, please configure your New Connection window as
below:
Be sure that SFTP is selected in the "Connect using:" pull-down. You may now connect to your site.
WinSCP is recommend for usage for its support of SFTP and simple user interface. Please download WinSCP from the link above.
Run the installer as shown below:
Choose an installation directory for WinSCP.
Choose a Full Installation of WinSCP.
Configure the Select Additional Tasks setup as shown below:
Choose which interface style you would be most comfortable using:
After installing, configure your WinSCP Login window as below to access the ASG server:
