Meet ASG
What is ASG?
ASG is your Associated Student Government, a group of hardworking undergraduate students who devote themselves day after day to work on your behalf - to discuss and act on ways that make Northwestern an overall better experience. ASG works along with the NU Administration to bring change to Northwestern, but we also directly provide services to students. ASG works on everything from student life to academics, from NU relations with Evanston to advising student groups.

Why should I care?
We have the resources to affect change, including dozens of dedicated students from across campus and regular contact with administrators. ASGʼs Senate is the only group on campus that speaks for the entire student body and brings diverse groups together to discuss mutual concerns. Also, the Senate allocates the Student Activities Fee, more than $1.3 million annually to student groups on campus.
What have you actually done?
ASG has been at the forefront of major changes at Northwestern, including the Chicago Express, wireless in dorms, and Norbucks. During Winter Quarter, ASG has launched an off- campus housing evaluation website (OCHE), a research database (NURD), a classifieds website (ASG List It), and much more!
Why haven’t you thought about (insert problem/opportunity here)?
While ASG strives to solve studentsʼ problems as fast as possible, some projects take time. For example, the Saturday Chicago Express took over a year to implement. But thatʼs no excuse for a lack of action. We are always open to suggestions for problems to solve. At the very least, weʼll use our clout to find out why something is the way that it is.
How can I help?
Every student at NU is represented by at least one ASG Senator, through dorm representatives, student groups, Greek life, etc.
Tell ASG your thoughts by going to office hours, talking to your Senator, or writing on the ASG website. Plus, ASG is always looking for new members. If you have an idea, join us to make it happen. See our website for details on how to join an ASG committee.
