Sustainability

“The Sustainability Committee is committed to reducing Northwestern’s environmental impact, driving eco-friendly initiatives and promoting environmental justice. Our committee focuses on fostering awareness, engagement, and actionable change through advancing a variety of programs and events.”

— Angelina Ariaz & Sofia Casias, Sustainability Chairs

What we are doing:

  • Initiatives

We are working on expanding student composting efforts on Northwestern campus and effective ways of reducing single-use water bottle waste in Norris University Center.

  • Progams

We want to support ongoing programs like the Roots & Shoots Environmental Education Program, and Let’s Talk Trash, a student-led initiative focused on reselling and repurposing furniture.

Our Goal:

Looking ahead, we aim to continue growing these initiatives and welcome new ideas for sustainable projects, encouraging members to bring forward initiatives they are passionate about to further strengthen sustainability on campus.
